A new skyscraper in New York designed by Foster + Partners is a luxury apartment building that features concrete flooring. This not only looks good, but is environmentally friendly too.
The building in Midtown Manhattan is thin and referred to as “super-skinny”. It has 63 storeys that contain 94 luxury apartments. Luxury natural materials feature, including marble walls, solid wood screens and granite tiles.
The lobby area at the entrance has polished concrete flooring. The lobby area features Calacatta marble walls and dramatic bronze fireplace, and the polished concrete flooring fits this opulent style.

“You can polish and tint your concrete floors to match your taste, and you can inlay other materials, designs, or effects. ”
Concrete flooring is versatile and can be used in both residential and commercial buildings. If a concrete building is demolished, the concrete can be crushed and reused. Despite the emergence of new materials, Foster + Partners continues to use traditional ones in its building designs.
